The person we got it from said it worked, and I believe it did because when my friend dropped it off, it had water coming from inside it. lol I hope you were able to replace your deep freezer. I hope your insurance paid for the food. My friends insurance covered her food when we were hit by Hurricane Katrina. Replaced all $500!! She has a big family and a big freezer and a deep freezer full all the time! Sorry to hear that Lori!

All the food had to be thrown away since we had no power and they paid the full amount of ALL the food in the refrigerators/freezer as well as my very well stocked pantry and kitchen cabinets. It's $250 in the standard insurance form, but every company has its own policy. If you have your policy, you can look it up under Additional Coverages. If you've had a recent claim, talk to your agent before turning this one in, as you don't want to have a claims frequency issue if you only have a little bit of coverage. (I'm an underwriter - the one who cancels insurance for such reasons...lol!) Hopefully you will have a lot of coverage for it and can restock!!! Good luck!
