It might be an uncommon idea in America, that we could save up cash before December to use for Christmas gifts. This blog I ran across today, has daily tips to help you save $1000 in November. I know I am going to follow these tips each day. In fact, while I am up for saving $1000, I think I will also make an extra $1000 as well. With 30 minutes a day, I can save $1000 a month, with another 30 minutes a day, I can make an extra $1000. After I make my husband’s lunch for tomorrow (the suggested tip for saving money today) I think Ebay and Craigslist will be my first two stops to making extra money. I am planning on pulling $500 to go directly to the Christmas Fund for this year, $400 will be for the four of us and $100 will go to another family that is in need.
Are you up for the Save $1000/ Make $1000 challenge?
Update: I just posted an item on Ebay and it sold within the first hour. I am now very motivated!

My husband and I have put aside $100/month towards our Christmas budget for the last 5 years. Every October we go Christmas shopping (to beat the crowds and get a head start!) Our budget for our 4 kids, parents, siblings and assorted other people (teachers, mail lady, etc.) has always come out of that $1000. Charity (Operation Christmas Child, Salvation Army Angel Tree) comes out of a different budget. Having the cash and not worrying about the Christmas credit card bills coming in January has made Christmas SO MUCH MORE FUN for us!

Ooh, I like this challenge! We are doing our shopping on November 11th (hubby took the day off), but I can still save & make money after that.
