Blockbuster.com has a great deal. You can sign up for any plan for one month or longer (plus a two week trial) and get $25 back via Paypal! You must sign up to pay for your plan via paypal and keep your plan for one month after the trial is over. At this time you may cancel your plan if you so desire. The $11.99 plan allows you to rent one movie at a time and rent two in store per month. (I usually keep the plan until I have seen all the movies I want to see.) Click on the blockbuster icon at the top left to see the deal.
Netflix has a plan where you can have one move at at time mailed to you and can download unlimited movies to your computer for $8.99. Netflix lets you rent, watch and return DVDs from home - Try it free for 2 weeks. Has anyone tried this? Is the selection of movies a good selection? I think I am interested in trying this to download the movies onto my computer.
You can always check out movies at your local library for free. (A great thing to do after storytime with the kids.)
You can check out movies at a Redbox stand (usually in your local grocery store). The cost is 99 cents a day. There are usually codes for a free movie from them at various times. My only problem with Redbox is that I don’t go into the same town everyday and each day is an extra 99 cents.

I have the 8.99 Netflix deal. The online selection is pretty varied, we actually watch a lot more online than we thought we would. You won’t find any new releases, or even close to new releases, but there are popular movies, just older ones. The TV and Children selections are pretty good, all seasons of a lot of current shows and some throwbacks. There’s also a category for “Fitness DVD’s”, which I have found to be a great way to preview a series or even hook up the computer to the TV and get a new workout once in a while!
It may sound like it, but I really don’t work for netflix….sorry I got winded!

I’ve got the Netflix deal - a newbie, I’ve only had it two months. I love it. Loads of good movies. The more you rate, the better they get at recommending too. I’ve set up my 4-year old with his own list (he gets two at a time, I get one) That makes it easier to keep track of what is coming next for whom. The “downloading” movies is nice too, except it isn’t really downloading in the usual sense. The movie isn’t stored anywhere on your machine. You watch it on the computer and then it’s gone. It only works on the Windows Internet Explorer and image quality depends on your connection speed. Still a very nice feature and I’ve made a lot of use of it. Hope this helps.

Netflix is excellent, and so is their selection; I’ve never been unhappy with them. The “watch instantly” movies change occasionally, and some of them are so-so, but there’s a lot of good stuff (including television shows like the Office) on there.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the new look!!!!!!

I love Netflix! We’ve had them for years and only have good things to say about them. I recommend them to everyone who likes watching movies. The movies arrive very quickly too. They have a watch instantly section, you don’t really download the movies to your computer though. Their watch instantly selection is not as good, but I’ve watched some pretty good movies that way that I normally wouldn’t have watched. Their DVD selection is awesome though. You can pretty much find anything and new releases come out really quickly. I’ve never had to wait too long for a new release. We downgraded from 3 movies to the 1 movie program since we are trying to save money now that I stay home and this program has worked really well for us too. I have a coupon to try it for free for 1 month let me know if you are interested.

I have wanted to try Netflix b/c we love to watch movies and, frankly, they have just gotten out of hand, financially. However…we just got a Redbox at the Walmart I work at and I am sooo excited! We can rent for $1 and I can just return it the next day when I go into work! VERY convenient for us.
BTW - LOVE your new look!

I am a huge Netflix fan too. We love them!
Your blog looks really cool. I Love the makeover!

We’ve used Netflix for about 5 years and love the convenience and selection. We send movies back on a Monday and have new ones waiting in our mailbox on Wednesday!
BTW…totally loving your blog makeover! Nice job Ü.

We like out Blockbuster online service. We had contemplated discontinuing it since we weren’t using it quite as much as we once where… but now that the prices of renting in the store have gone up (its $5 for a new release!) I think we’ll keep it!

Love the new site!!! Wow!
24 Sep 08
Your site is looking much better, my dear. It was a bit funky when I checked it this morning with that looooooong skinny column down the middle. I know, you were working on it and hoped no one would see, but I caught ya!

It’s because you have IE as your browser. We with IE have bugs. Not everyone saw that long skinny column (only those with IE) but it was fixed to perfection! Praise Him!

We have Netflix, and we LOVE it. We haven’t tried the online thing yet.
By the way, Nathan said they are doing some deal with Xbox so that you can download the movie directly to your Xbox and therefore watch it on your TV rather than your computer.
Love the blog makeover, by the way!

We’ve started renting movies through Redbox with the free codes and even if you keep it two days, it’s still only $.99!

Thanks for comparing these three choices. I use Redbox. But after reading your review may try Blockbuster for a couple of months.
