Tracy wrote me saying that she has been a stay at home mom for six years and recently had to go back to work four days a week to help pay off some debt. She has really great credentials and I am wondering if any of you have a connection that could help her. She has a masters in Elementary Education and Special Education and a bachelors in Psychology and Early Childhood Education. She is also a freelance writer on parenting.

Ideally she would love to teach any online education classes or do something so that she could work at home with her almost-three year old son. I am sure there are other moms in a similar situation so please share your work from home ideas for everyone in the comments!

Most parenting magazines are looking to hire bloggers and other writers to write on parenting.

My husband is also a teacher and is now also writing lesson plans which are posted online. She might look at something that direction. It’s great pay and been a huge blessing for him to be able to be home to do this extra work.

I write for ifreelance and elance. I have nothing like her credentials, but still I make anywhere from $20-75 an hour for my work. I am sure she could have great success writing from home.

Depending on where she lives, HappyBaby is almost always hiring community marketing specialists to help promote their product. It is a very mom-friendly company, and *easy* to promote a product that is genuinely good.

I work from home doing medical transcription. I have been doing it for 6 years now. I have a 5 year old that just started kindergarten today and an almost 2 year old. The job allows me a pretty flexible schedule since I don’t have to be tied to my desk from 8 to 5. As long as I get my work done within each 24 hour day I can pretty much set my own hours. Some people take the At Home Professions course but I went to my local community college and took evening courses as I was still working full time outside the home at that time. So if you are interested in doing that from home, check with your local continuing education courses in your community to see what they have to offer.

I have a free job leads forum and have been posting quite a few online teaching, tutoring and test scoring work at home job openings recently.

She could maybe teach for an online school, like the University of Phoenix. I think you need all you need is a masters.

How about a position with one of the electronic home schooling companies?

I work for a company that operates a virtual call center. There are several popular companies to contract with, the one I have the most experience with is LiveOps. I take inbound direct response calls (there are some outbound lines, but no one starts there). Basically, it’s people calling to order something they saw on TV or in a magazine. It’s really easy and I enjoy it.

I belong to the Mom’s Club, and one of our moms owns an online staffing company called Platinum Virtual. They pair you with a company that will allow you to work from home, doing administrative work. I hope to do it when it’s time to go back to work!
The website is www.platinumvirtual.com and her name is Megan Campbell.
    Good Luck!
