I like going to the grocery store on Valentine’s Day because you can see all the men getting last minute flowers for their Valentines.
Today I saw something sad yet very sweet. I went to the grocery store today and there was a sweet man in his 40’s buying roses for his Valentine. He had cash in his hand and his work clothes on. The cashier rang up his flowers and she said, “That will be $21.” The man said ” What? I thought these flowers were $9.99?” She showed him the tag and said “No, they are $19.99.” He counted his cash and looked back up and down and back at his cash a few times and said “Okay, I guess I’ll put these back.” He clearly wanted those flowers for his Valentine but he didn’t have enough money. The cashier kind of made a big deal about the fact that she was going to have to put these back (instead of offering to find someone to help him find something a little less expensive.) How Rude! I really wanted to go up and buy the flowers for him but I think he wanted to purchase them himself. I ended up in the floral department again later and saw him holding the tiniest bouquet of baby roses in the flower section. He asked the lady how much they were and she said $4.99. He seemed somewhat pleased, grabbed two and headed to the counter.
There is something to be said for a beautiful bouquet of flowers but there is also something to be said for a tiny bouquet of mini roses. It’s the thought that counts!
I do have to brag on my hubs a little, he wrote me a Romantic Letter! It’s one of the best gifts he’s every given me and it didn’t cost anything but was seriously PRICELESS! I hope you all have a Happy Valentines Day!

Awww…that story makes me kind of sad. I hate that flowers are so expensive. I hope his Valentine will be pleased with the flowers he did get.

How ironic, my husband wrote me a letter for valentines day too! It was better than anything from the store.

Poor guy. I feel bad for him. I’m sure his wife appreciates what he got for her.
