Be A Good Steward Challenge! |
During high school and college years, I began a habit of raiding the clearance section at every Hallmark store I drove past . (The curse of the bargain shopper!)
Here is a picture where I bought about $12 worth of tights on sale at The Children’s Place. I think they were about 11 cents each. (You do the math, I got about 90 of them.) I gave away a few of them but I still have a huge bag full of tights. This is how bad I had the “clearance bug”~ I don’t even have any little girls! I have all boys! (If you need any girls tights, please let me know, I have ” a few” of them!
)
Now that we are moving, I can say that I have learned not to buy lots of “small clearance things” just because they are “on sale.” I am hoping that this trait will last even after we move! My new theme is “If you don’t need it, Don’t buy it (Unless it’s free)!” My poor husband would agree that I have come a long way on this one!
I would like you to share on your blog how you have been a good steward recently. You can show pictures of your savings, lessons you have learned, share organizing tips, or ways you have learned to save money.
If you live near a Dunkin Donuts, make sure you take advantage of being a good steward by getting a 99 cent drink today, Tuesday, Feb 26th from 1-10pm.
Have you ever had a Clothing and Stuff Swap at a church or group? If not, I highly recommend it! You take stuff you want to donate (and get it out of your house!) and go pick up a shopping bag to shop at the Swap with. Everything you leave with is free! It’s definitely worth it to set a Swap up somewhere!
Here is a neat site I found which is basically an online clothing swap. It’s called Swango. (If you sign up on this link, we can swap for free!) Everything is based on points and a 99 cent transaction fee, plus shipping. The more you put online, the more you can get. Go check it out!
Here is a coupon for $5 off $25 on Toys at Target!
Q & A
Is Mystery Shopping real?
Yes it is.
Do you really get paid to shop doing mystery shopping?
Yes you do and it’s fun! You need good computer skills because most shops require an online report after the shop is completed.
Are all Mystery Shopping companies real? No. Rule #1 -Never pay a company to sign up to shop for them. Signing up should be free. This will separate the real companies from the fraudulent ones.
What kind of mystery shops have you done? For privacy reasons, I can’t tell you which company shops what store. But I can tell you that I have shopped for Starbucks, Sonic, Williams Sonoma, hotels, resorts, grocery shops, kids haircuts, oil changes and more.
Here is a shopper who has started a blog on mystery shopping. It’s pretty helpful.
I highly recommend that you buy the book Mystery Shopping Made Simple by Dr. Newhouse.
While you wait for the book to arrive, go to the MSPA website and start signing up for companies to work for.
After you read your book and try a shop you can choose to get certified. (However it is not required to shop.) There is a silver and gold level certification. The silver certification is an online exam and costs about $15. (Only take it with the MSPA.) The gold certification is a weekend course. It is through the MSPA as well. Certification can help you get better shops if the mystery shopping company requires a higher certification.

We just got word today that we got the house we wanted in the North East! We offered, they counter offered and the counter offer was exactly the price we could afford on the house. If it all works out, it looks like it will be our future home!
Here are pics of the house! (Blogspot can upload larger pics than Wordpress.)
Thanks so much for all your prayers!!!!!!!!
Also check out a cool story about the house on my other blog Mom Hug. I was tagged by Amy and I put that on there as well.
